CertainTeed Belmont — Colleyville, TX

The Challenge

A storm moved through Colleyville and damaged this property across the roof, the gutters, both garages, and the interior. On inspection we documented the full extent of the storm damage — impact to the roof shingles, displaced and dented gutters, and interior water intrusion where the storm found weaknesses — and produced a detailed photo record and a line-item scope. We met the carrier’s adjuster on site and, through the inspection, identified damage that was not included in the initial approved scope. We requested and attended re-inspections as further damage was documented. The carrier’s initial approval covered only part of the damage; over roughly a year, as documentation was submitted and re-inspections took place, the full scope of the property damage was ultimately approved.

Why CertainTeed Belmont in Colonial Slate

Belmont is a luxury asphalt shingle — not natural slate, not a synthetic or composite slate. The categories get confused, so it is worth stating plainly. CertainTeed engineered Belmont to emulate slate through layered construction, and for this roof replacement we specified it in Colonial Slate. The deciding factors:

The Installation

Full tear-off, deck inspection, and a manufacturer-spec CertainTeed installation. The existing storm-damaged roof was removed down to the deck, the sheathing inspected and repaired where fasteners had pulled or the deck had softened, and the Belmont shingles installed to CertainTeed’s written specification — the fastening schedule, exposure, underlayment, and flashing details that keep the manufacturer’s warranty valid. The approved scope extended past the roof: we replaced the damaged gutters, re-stained both garages, and completed the interior repairs where storm water had entered. Every trade was run through one crew and one schedule, so the gutter replacement, garage staining, and interior work closed out with the roof rather than after it.

The Result

From the street, the Colonial Slate roofline reads as a deliberate, grounded grey — the multi-tonal shadow lines of the Belmont shingle giving the elevation real depth. The property was restored in full, not in part: the roof, the gutters, both garages, and the interior all closed out together.
