The tile is molded directly from real slate, so the riven texture and edge profile are authentic, not approximate.
At a fraction of natural slate's weight, Brava composite slate roof tiles install on a standard roof deck with no structural reinforcement. Custom color blends are produced through Brava's Colorcast mineral-infusion process — color bonded at the mineral level, not applied as a surface dye, so it does not fade under Texas UV. Every pallet ships from multiple production batches for the natural color variation that makes real slate distinctive.
Brava Old World Slate is available in Class A or Class C fire-rated configurations, and its Class 4 impact rating is backed by Brava's hail warranty. The tiles are manufactured from recycled materials.
